This week, Anna Janicka and Marcin Janicki from the Children's University of Łódź visited Helen Aspinall and Andrew Abrahamson at the University of Liverpool to make a start on their work together as Mentoring Associates.

A successful SiS Catalyst session at the ECSITE (the European network of science centres and museums) annual conference 2013 raised the issue of social inclusion in science centres. The event attracted over 1000 professionals to Gothenburg  3rd-8th June.

This issue is a round up of our conference in Tartu, with reflections from participants. We also hear from Traces and the University of Innsbruck, and announce the theme of our next conference which will take place in Lodz in October.

We would like to invite anybody interested in presenting a session, to submit an abstract on one of the thematic strands.

University of Liverpool, Traces and Universitatea Copiilor have organised a three day workshop in Bucharest to enhance the practice of science educators, lecturers, researchers, scientists and facilitators to work with children as subjects of knowledge and right.

Training for Educators of Trieste’s Children Centres

22nd and 23rd of May, Trieste


SISSA Medialab have organised a two day training for 40 educators in Trieste’s 13 Ricreatori - municipal centres open to all children, free of charge, for tutoring, recreational activities, sport, culture. It will be based on the SiS Catalyst project results: reflections, experiences, and the tools developed to listen and empower young people.

Peter Gray has recently been invited into SiS Catalyst as an adviser, looking at how its activities fit into national policies, priorities and perspectives. Peter works for the Social Science Faculty of the Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, as adviser on European projects.

Ethics is the latest theme to be published on our resources pages and contains a range of useful articles, books and online resources suggested by some of the speakers at our recent conference in Tartu.
